PRODUCTION AND DESIGNING OF CLASS SHIRT
I was in charge with one other classmate for the production and design of the class shirt. I designed the shirt while collecting feedback to the class' liking and was also responsible for the money collection and communication with the shirt producers.

The overall process took about 3 weeks and tasks which include collaborating and perfecting gives me a sense of purpose. Once I start on a task I find enjoyable, I'll be stuck on it.
CCA FAIR
I have been helping out with the CCA Fair since I was in Secondary 2. However, 2025 was the first time I was put in charge of the whole event. I organised the set-up of the booth, chose those who I could trust to connect with the juniors and also settle the social media account all at the same time.

Juggling all these tasks are a huge responsibility I had to manage but I enjoyed it as it was something I was passionate about. My team, the joy of managing things and generally being the head of something gives me a rush.
PLANNED A GIFT FOR A DEPARTING CLASSMATE
In Secondary 2, a beloved classmate was leaving to Australia.
I volunteered to make a gift for our friend, a framed picture, to prevent him from forgetting us and till this day, the same picture of ironically, another classmate of ours is hung on his wall.
The picture was signed by all of us, including the teachers.

OPEN HOUSE
A very nerve wracking experience. Talking to parents can be scary, especially with the pressure that you could be the person who persuades them to sign their child up to the school or push them away. I had made slides and set up the booth and alongside my exco, I delegated their roles and had to settle the Instagram page as well.
SABAH ATHLETICS TRIP
In 2024, the team went to Sabah, Malaysia. Despite being in an unfamiliar environment, I had to keep morale high and take accountability for whatever. Even if my knowledge of the task and place is low and on the same level as the rest, I was responsible for each and every one of my team. For example, chasing them down when they overslept.

NSG AND LAWA COMPETITIONS

I competed with integrity, focus under pressure, and bounce back from defeat, all of which mirror the mindset needed in business. In Secondary 3, I underperformed and ended up 8th. I was ashamed of my performance and was dedicated to do better.

The next year I bounced back and landed on 4th, setting a new school record. Like sports, every business challenge is an opportunity to train harder, strategise smarter, and perform better.

Competing also taught me the importance of team morale. As Captain and someone who my junior throwers look up to, they always come to me for advice during competitions. Despite throwing being an individual sport, the scene of the entire team placing high is better than just one person up there.

Motivation is crucial during competitions as one bad throw can change your whole mood, speaking from experience. Motivation gives warmth as you know someone is there for you to fall back on. It helps you stay calm under pressure and gives you the drive to excel.

HELPING TO TRAIN THE THROWERS

For a few months, our coach, Coach Tang, who was a former coach of TP, got injured. Since there wasn't anyone else who could help train us, I had to step up and conduct training for the throwers.

During my time coaching, I incorporated new drills and exercises that we have never done before. I wanted to see if it would be a more efficient way for the throwers to train as it focused on specific technique needs such as flicking the ball into the ground and glide drills.

I also started to keep track of their progress, something we never do. As seen in the videos, I started to record their progress to show them where they went wrong instead of just telling them as simply saying it may not be an efficient way for them to understand. Recording also helped me understand their weak points easier. My juniors in the video, Andez and Kolby, improved their technique by a large margin as well. Having them focus on a specific technique during drills boosted their form and their distance thrown increased.

It wasn't all success at the same time as there are times where the drills I get them to do don't help and it took time to find the best practices to do for maximum results. Without their patience with me, everything would go downhill and I am very grateful that they put their trust in me.
